ACS (Acetyl-coenzyme A synthetase) Shewanella Oneidensis
ACS (Acetyl-coenzyme A synthetase) activity constitutes one of two distinct pathways by which E. coli activates acetate to acetyl-CoA in an ATP-dependent manner. [Brown et al., 1977; Kumari et al., 1995] The ACS pathway has catabolic role, degrading acetate present in the extracellular medium. The ACS gene encoding this enzyme is overexpressed to enhance acetyl-CoA's generation.
